All about the people behind Living Spirit

Welcome to Bonehill House, a gracious Georgian property set in over two acres of beautiful grounds and with expansive views over Dartmoor. Here we offer a range of local groups and services for spiritual study and practice, including quiet days, weekend workshops and personal residential retreats.

Bonehill is our family home and we invite all our guests to share and enjoy with us its excellent facilities. These include a light and spacious living/group room, with french doors opening to a Victorian verandah and to the lovely garden with its moorland views... and a large, open plan kitchen/dining room where guests can join us for simple, vegetarian meals. Also downstairs is a dedicated guest study with a telephone, computer and printer (with broadband connection).

Upstairs is the sunny sanctuary with a good selection of spiritual books and artifacts from different faith traditions. This sanctuary space is always open for meditation, quiet prayer and reading and there is a regular weekday meditation held here between 8.45 - 9.30 am. Also upstairs are our private family rooms and a cosy, south facing, single guest bedroom with private bath/shower room.

the perfect
place for a
truly private, personal
retreat

Set outside in the secluded grounds is The Hermitage, a self contained cottage suitable for an individual or couple. This has a spacious bed-sitting room with a wood burner and south facing french doors with long views, a kitchenette and shower room.

The Hermitage really is the perfect place for a truly private, personal retreat and guests staying here have the option to either self cater or join in with meals in the main house.

There are many quiet places to enjoy in the gardens at Bonehill with seats beside the large, peaceful pond… on the sunny, herb scented patio… under the beautiful, blue cedars or in the summer house, while from the garden gates there are wonderful walks up onto the open moor at Bonehill Rocks and beyond to Haytor, Houndtor and to the moorland villages of Buckland and Manaton. Or follow the stream that flows through the garden down into the East Webburn river valley and explore the country lanes around the village of Widecombe with its 'Cathedral of the Moors'.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
